My FAQ
There are many factors in deciding which of my treatments are best suited for you. Here are some questions I get asked frequently by individuals before their treatment:
You will be required to fill out a confidential Health History form. I will look this over, and we will discuss your concerns further followed by an assessment, and a treatment plan best suited for your needs. It is very important to fill out the HHF thoroughly, and advise me of any other health concerns or medications you’re taking. I want to make sure you get the appropriate treatment that will help you return to your normal activities as much as possible.
If you are coming in because you need help with some tension, and pain, then expect there to be some discomfort as I work through the tissues to help reduce that tension. A lot of my client’s refer to this as “good pain”. I will be checking in with you frequently to make sure you are comfortable with this pressure, or if you need more or less. Post treatment, you may feel tender, especially in regions that hold more tension.
If you are coming in because you need some down time, and relaxation, then my goal is to help calm your nervous system the best I can. With this, do expect to have the urge to fall asleep. This is OK, happens often, and it means I did my job.
Either case, post treatment you may feel a little zen and tired and that’s ok as well. Just ease yourself back into the real world. Go for a cup of tea, take a brisk walk, take some deep breaths of fresh air.
NO! You dress down to what you are comfortable with. You can keep it all on, or you can take it all off, or keep some on. It’s up to you!
Why RMT’s prefer you to mostly dress down is because it helps us work on the tissues more effectively.
If you would like to include some Fascial stretch therapy, then it is ideal to come in comfortable clothing or bring an extra pair of shorts so I can move your body more fluently without the concern of exposing what shouldn’t be exposed.
When you come in for Initial treatment, we will have a chat to discuss what your concerns are. I will do a quick assessment that allows me to get an idea of what is going on and how to best treat you. After that, I will compose a treatment plan to discuss how frequently you should be coming to see me.
P.S. make sure to fill out the health history form (thoroughly), so I can see what your overall health is like.
Depending where you book, there is an option for direct billing. Or a receipt with my registration number will be sent to you by email, with which you can then send off to your insurance.
Absolutely! It has been advised a lot to “take it easy” after a massage as you may feel a little lethargic. But that’s not always the case! If you feel you have the energy to exercise, then go for it. Now that your muscles are loosened up, you may be able to move your body more efficiently and with greater range of motion.
Absolutely! 24 hours notice, or you are fully charged. The only time I will not charge you, is if you are able to fill in my time with another client (i.e. your SO may need a massage).

If you have any of the following symptoms or conditions, please consult with a physician to confirm if Lymphatic Massage is right for you.
Absolute Contraindications
● Acute inflammation – caused by bacteria, viruses and poisons are contraindicated. Tissues will be red, hot, and painful with congestion accompanied by fever. Lymphatic drainage will push these substances into the lymph channels before the body has a chance to eliminate them. This way one can spread the toxic substances throughout the body. It is best to wait a few days until the condition is not acute and the body has had a chance to clean up the area.
● Malignant tumours – there is a fear of spreading the cancer.
● Thrombosis – can lead to free floating blood clots in the circulatory system.
● Major heart problems – if the heart is not fully functioning, oedema can be
lymphodynamic due to a lack of venous return. Pumping more fluid in the heart it may stress it more than the actual condition.
Relative Indications or Precautions
● Kidney problems – check with the physician before treating.
● Bronchial asthma – this can stimulate the vagus nerve bringing on an attack.
● Thyroid problems – no treatment around the throat.
